WHAT DOES GOD “SAY,” OR “THINK”?

Host: Bruce Van Blair

In the Old Testament, Moses and some of the prophets speak very directly in the name of God. “Thus sayeth the Lord …” In the New Testament, Jesus speaks His own truth, but often in ways that contradict or carry forward Old Testament messages. Those who trust Jesus as God’s true Messenger or Agent (whatever language they use) tend to assume that we learn some things from Jesus about what God “says” or “thinks.” And clearly, the New Testament also claims that the Holy Spirit is communicating with individuals, and giving them guidance and instructions about various things.

But what do you say about what God “says” or “thinks”? And please don’t just cut out (or cop out) on the question too fast or too easily. Very clearly every one of us has some assumptions, opinions, even convictions about what God thinks or wants and is trying to “say” to us.

What do you say about what God says, or thinks?
